About Studio Boris Maas

Boris Maas (1995) is a Dutch-born artist and designer that creates objects and installations of bold simplicity and elegant solutions, often with a concept driven approach. He has a global scope, providing ideas to contemporary issues in all regions of the world. His objects instantly reveal a continuous search for the undiscovered. Simplicity of form is well balanced with a gentleness that set one to think.

 

Boris finds inspiration in nature as well as in the lively earthly culture. Fueled by a highly collaborative research-based design methode, his instinct and sensibility in the work with materials involves clients, stakeholders, and experts from a wide range of fields from early on in the creative process. The results are exemplary, outspoken projects that enable us to develop towards a better future.

 

His studio collaborates with talented manufacturer specialist in different disciplines, and is always in conversations with others to broaden the realm of expression. He gives himself design briefs triggering investigations of concepts on global issues, often inspired by natural phenomena. He has made work on commission for Rijkswaterstaat, Zuiderzeemuseum and Maritiem Museum Rotterdam, as well as private commissions.

 

The products of Studio Boris Maas's unique approach to design vary, ranging from art installations of all types and sizes, to small scale architectural spaces and visions, publications and exhibitions.

 

Studio Boris Maas is located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He studied at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, the Netherlands and Konstfack University of Arts and Craft in Stockholm, Sweden.
